In August we are excited to welcome The Calliope Joy Foundation.
In 2013, a year after the Carr family learned their youngest child Cal had leukodystrophy ( a degenerative neurological disease similar to Tays-Sachs disease), they started hosting bake sales featuring cupcakes to help the doctors at the The Childrens Hospital Of Philadelphia~Chop find a cure for Cal's disease. Four years later, Cal's Cupcake Challenge has helped raise more than $450,000 for children with the 30 forms of leukodystrophy. In 2015, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia launched the nation's first Leukodystrophy Center of Excellence. Cal and her foundation have been featured CBS Sunday Morning and the Philadelphia Eagles recognized the foundation as a Community Quarterback Finalist back in 2013. You can watch this video to learn more about Cal and the Cupcakes.
